PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — An 11-kill performance by Lindsay Kleuskens (London, Ont.) led the No. 3 Ryerson Rams to a 3-0 (28-26, 25-23, 25-15) win over the Trent Excalibur on Saturday afternoon at the Trent Athletics Centre in the Rams' final road game of the regular season. 

The win over Trent marks Ryerson's seventh consecutive victory.

The Rams got off to a rocky start in the match, falling behind by one at the first technical timeout. The team would total eight errors in the set, hitting at a game-low .159 percent. It took 28 points but the Rams pulled out a win in the first, taking a 1-0 lead in the match and heading into the second set seeking improved results. 

The second showed slight improvements across the floor, as the Rams took a 16-14 lead at the technical timeout. Action remained tight through to the 25-point mark, but in spite of Trent's continued pressure, the Rams would play their most efficient volleyball of the match in the second; Ryerson attacked at .360 percent and totaled 11 kills and just two errors on 25 attempts. The team would emerge with a 25-23 win in the set and entered the third seeking to solidify the sweep. 

The third wrapped up fairly quickly with a 25-15 Rams victory, securing Ryerson's fourth sweep of the season and their seventh straight win. Kleuskens finished the game with 11 kills on .500 percent hitting, while fifth-year senior Brett Hagarty (Aurora, Ont.) totalled 10 kills and 15 digs through three sets. Rookie outside hitter Mikayla Sherrifs (Calgary, Alta.) contributed 10 digs, five kills and three service aces. 

With another winning performance in the books, the Rams will begin to shift their sights to postseason play. Ryerson currently leads the No. 4 Toronto Varsity Blues by two points in the standings, but Toronto holds a game in hand and will likely easily close the gap before the regular season comes to a close. The Rams will be keeping a close eye on their cross-town rivals with the hopes of reigning as the first seed in the OUA East. 

Just two games remain in the 2019-20 regular season, the first of which is scheduled for next Saturday afternoon against the York Lions. First serve flies at 12:00 p.m. at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto.
