TORONTO – With their win over the No. 8 Brock Badgers on Saturday, the Ryerson Rams are currently tied with them for first in the central division with a 14-4 record and 28 points. Looking to clinch first in their division and get a first round playoff bye, the Rams final upcoming road games are going to be crucial.
The Rams head to Guelph first to face off against the Gryphons on Wednesday. The Rams have won the past six matchups between the two teams and will look to win this one as well. But the Gryphons will not be an easy team to beat. Boasting a 10-7 record and coming off an 86-49 win against the Nipissing Lakers, the Gryphons are going to give the Rams a challenge. Burke Bechard leads the team with 13.3 points per game and MacKeely Shantz leads the team in rebounds with 8.2 per game. The Rams are coming off a two-game win streak, against nationally ranked teams, and should continue to perform well especially given their shooting depth.
The Rams will then fly to Sault Ste. Marie to play the Algoma Thunderbirds on Sunday afternoon. The Rams have the winning record in this matchup as well, winning the last eight games against Algoma. The Thunderbirds have fallen on hard times with a 5-13 record but have won their last two games against Laurentian and Nipissing. The Thunderbirds are led by Karly Fracalanza, who averages 15.1 points per game and 4.8 rebounds per game. The Thunderbirds will have the home court advantage but, the Rams are the better team statistically and will look to take this win as well.
The Rams tip off against the Guelph Gryphons at 6:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, February 5 and at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 9. Stream both games live on OUA.tv.
