Rams' offence stays hot in win over Brock

TORONTO - Fresh off a program record 116 points earlier in the week, the Rams cruised to an 87-55 win over the Brock Badgers on Saturday.

Teuvan Kokko (Markham, Ont.) led the way with 21 points and five assists. Tanor Ngom (Dakar, Senegal) secured a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds while Jayden Frederick (Scarborough, Ont.) had 19 points and nine rebounds.

Putting up 29 points in the first quarter alone, the Rams looked poised to break their scoring records once again. Brock was held to just two points in the opening half of the quarter as it ended 29-14 for Ryerson.

In the first, Kokko put up 11 points while dishing a pair of assists. Tom Dumont (Montreuil, France) took advantage of one of Kokko's dimes by throwing down a powerful poster dunk.

Both sides of the Rams' court shone in the second. At the half, the Rams had already scored 50, leading 53-28. Scoring was spread out, with Kokko, Frederick and Mouhamed Ndiaye (Longeuil, Que.) holding on to double digit point totals.

On the back end, the Rams contested the Badgers heavily. Depth players like Keevon Small (Montreal, Que.) contributed, who nabbed four rebounds while collecting two assists at the half.

The Rams' physical side heated up in the third. Ngom and Frederick both threw down powerful dunks, with Frederick's coming off a putback.

The Badgers put on some pressure, but only put up another 16 points in the third. Meanwhile, Ngom's numbers helped bring the Rams up to a 75-44 lead.

The Rams played calmly to close out the fourth while holding Brock to a meager 26 shooting percentage from the field.

While the Rams' offence has been on fire, head coach Borko Popic discussed defence. "Even when our offence was up and down, our defence needs to maintain. We're going to continue having a focus on (defence) as well and we need to continue executing there."

The nationally-ranked Rams are back in action on the road in Guelph on Wednesday with tip-off at 8:00 p.m. against the Gryphons.
