Rams take to the road to face Waterloo, Toronto

TORONTO – The No. 5 ranked Ryerson Rams face the Waterloo Warriors on the road on Wednesday for the first time this season before visiting the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday for their second meeting. The Rams look to continue their 2020 win streak while the Warriors look to get back on their feet after dropping their last game.

The Rams are coming off an 85-73 home win against the Western Mustangs, their first meeting of the season. Senior guard Hayley Robertson (Toronto) and third year forward Jama Bin-Edward (Waterloo, Ont.) shined in this matchup, netting 29 points each. A strong second half performance by the Rams was what truly gave them the win.

The Warriors, on the other hand, dropped their last home game against the Guelph Gryphons 69-55. The Gryphons came out strong with 27 points in the first compared to the Warriors 19 points. The Gryphons remained consistent throughout the game while the Warriors just could not keep up. Vanessa Hughes and Beth Howlett led the team with 13 points each.

The Rams need to continue their hot start for Wednesday's matchup. Ryerson's starters have been performing really well in the new year and should continue to do so throughout the season. The Warriors on the other hand need to shake off their disappointing loss and come out strong, while maintaining a consistent pace.

Following the midweek matchup the Rams will take on the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday evening. Ryerson won the first matchup 75-56 over the Blues back in November. Toronto has struggled this season, recording just two wins so far. They will also play Waterloo this week but not until Friday night, so the Rams will have a few days of rest advantage over the Blues who will play back-to-back.

The Rams face the Warriors on Wednesday, January 15 and the Varsity Blues on Saturday, January 18 with tip off for both games at 6:00 pm ET. Watch the games live on OUA.tv.
