TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams women's hockey team picked up an important three points with a 3-1 win over the York Lions on Wednesday night.

Avery Horlock opened the scoring for Ryerson eight minutes into the game when she camped out in front of Lions goalie Lauren Dubie and slotted home a pass from behind the net from Lauren Nicholson.

Later in the period, Erika Crouse scored her 10th of the season on a backhand to finish off a pretty passing play with Kryshanda Green.

York's Jenna Gray cut the Rams lead in half just before the buzzer so Ryerson headed to the dressing room up 2-1 after 20 minutes.

Both teams had opportunities in the second period but neither team could convert and the Rams lead held heading into the third period.

Crouse gave Ryerson some insurance just three and a half minutes into the third when she scored her second of the game.

York had a number of good chances down the stretch but Rams goaltender Fanny Vigeant shut the door to secure the victory.

The win moves the Rams from sixth place up into third place with just one game remaining on the schedule. That final game goes Friday when Ryerson hosts these same Lions for 7:15 puck drop at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
