Rams look to sweep road trip at Guelph, Waterloo

TORONTO - The Ryerson men's volleyball team is wrapping up its four-game road trip this weekend against the No. 9 ranked Guelph Gryphons and the Waterloo Warriors.

On Friday night, the Rams will head to Guelph to face-off against the undefeated Gryphons. Having started their season 4-0, the Gryphons have given up just two sets in four matches and cracked the Top 10 in this week's polls. The Gryphons have a number of offensive threats the Rams will be looking to block out, including outside-hitter Zarko Ubiparip who has tallied 43 kills for far this season. Guelph also leads the OUA in kills-per-set with 13.14.

Despite the daunting task, the Rams will be looking to replicate their pre-season 3-2 win they had against the Gryphons at the end of September.

Saturday night's opponent will be the Waterloo Warriors, who are yet to find a win so far this season. The 0-3 Warriors have faced a tough schedule to start their season, playing the Gryphons, Lancers, and Mustangs and only winning one set in those three matches. The Rams will not be underestimating the Warriors, however, having lost a 3-0 match to them earlier this pre-season.

The Rams will look to keep their two-game winning streak alive on the road, continuing to use Xander Ketrzynski's (Toronto) dominance on offence. Ketrzynski is currently leading the OUA in kills-per-set.

Ryerson is also likely to have one of their key pieces back, Taryq Sani (Scarborough, Ont.).

Sani started the regular season out injured and after another week of rest, the outside-hitter should be ready to play and impose himself in OUA volleyball. Sani had nine kills and six digs against the Gryphons in their pre-season game.

Make sure to catch both games on OUA.tv at 8 p.m this Friday and Saturday.
