WATERLOO, Ont. - The Ryerson Rams women's hockey team couldn't solve Waterloo goaltender Mikayla Schnarr and the Rams' six-game win streak came to an end, falling 3-0 to the Warriors on Thursday night.
Ryerson entered the contest as the highest scoring team in the OUA with 3.33 goals per game but they were stifled at the Columbia Ice Fields arena and came away empty-handed.
Waterloo opened the scoring in the second period when league-leading goal scorer Taytum Clairmont picked off a pass and converted on a breakaway.
The Rams ran into some bad luck moments later as it appeared as though a
Tori Butler (North Saanich, B.C.) point shot was deflected home by
Brooklyn Gemmill (Cambridge, Ont.), but it was negated by the referee. That was as close as Ryerson would come to tying the game, despite outshooting Waterloo 29-23 by the end of the night.
The Warriors got a pair of third period insurance markers from Elizabeth Lenardon to seal the win for the home team.
Ryerson will be back in action on Saturday, November 30 when they return to Waterloo, this time to play the Laurier Golden Hawks for an afternoon affair. The final puck drop of 2019 is set for 2:07 p.m. and will be available on OUA.tv
