TORONTO – The Rams visited the Queen's Gaels in Kingston, Ontario to finish off their three-game road trip on Saturday night. Despite, their strong showing the past couple of games, the Rams would drop this one 73-82.
Â
With forward
Tanor Ngom (Dakar, Senegal) back in the lineup, the Rams would win the tip off, and with a pass to guard
Tevaun Kokko (Markham, Ont.), the Rams would get their first points. An easy three from an open
Keevon Small (Montreal, Que.) would give the Rams a 9-0 run to start the quarter. The Gaels would not stay dormant much longer as they would get the next six unanswered points. By the end of the first 10-minutes, the Rams would have a meager two-point lead.
Â
The Gaels would bring the pressure in the second but would not be able to close the small gap. By the five-minute mark the Rams would still lead by two. Guard
Jayden Frederick (Scarborough, Ont.) would give the Rams three points, but the Gaels would answer back with their own three and would continue to shoot from beyond the arc to take the lead. After some back-and-forth, a buzzer-beating three by Luka Syllas would get Queen's within one heading to the half.
Â
Ngom would be more active in the third getting six points early on in the quarter. The Rams would have a quiet five minutes to start the third but would still lead by five at the five-minute mark. It would go downhill from there for the Rams. Some turnovers and bad plays by the Rams would give the Gaels the confidence they needed to continue pressing. Despite the shakiness the Rams maintained a two-point lead with one quarter left to play.
Â
The Gaels came alive in the last quarter, limiting the hot Rams offence to just 10 points, while they scored more than double. The lead would see-saw between the two teams for the beginning of the fourth but, the Gaels would end up leading by one at the five-minute mark. The Rams would go cold to end the game, and the Queen's lead would increase causing them to come away with the 73-82 victory.
