TORONTO – The nationally ranked Ryerson Rams are headed to Oshawa to face the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks for the first time in program history on Wednesday night. This is the Ridgebacks inaugural season which created the new three division format in the OUA standings.
The Rams are coming off a disappointing 67-52 road loss to the York Lions on Saturday night. The expectations were that this second matchup would be a repeat of the Rams' home opening 77-59 win against the Lions. However, the Lions seemed to have learned from their loss and were ready for the Rams. They took control early on in the game, and despite a spark in the second quarter, the Rams just weren't clicking Saturday night while the Lions had everything going for them.
The Ridgebacks currently do not have a win, with their last loss coming from a 79-53 game against the Western Mustangs. Despite the loss, guard Jolesha Allen-Brown scored a game-high 21 points, four rebounds, and three steals while leading scorer Dalyssa Fleurgin finished with 10 points and six rebounds.
The Rams' experience will definitely be an advantage in this matchup, but they are currently 0-2 on the road. The Rams look like the better team on paper but they're going to have to shake off their road game blues and start playing like their usual selves. The Ridgebacks are going to have to be strong defensively and work on protecting the paint to stop a Rams offence that knows how to shoot and can find opportunities to do so.
Following Wednesday's game the Rams will turn their attention to the nationally ranked Queen's Gaels as they continue their play on the road in Kingston on Saturday night.
Tip off from Oshawa is at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, with Saturday's tip off in Kingston also set for 6:00 p.m. Catch both games live on OUA.tv.
