TORONTO – The No. 5 Ryerson Rams head to the Tait McKenzie Centre to face the York Lions for their second meeting of the season on Saturday, November 16th. The Rams were on fire during their home opener against the Lions, winning the game 77-59.Â
Winning each of their last three games by 17 points or more, the Rams are becoming increasingly more confident as they continue to play. Coming off a 69-52 win against the previously undefeated Windsor Lancers, the Rams are looking like a strong all-around team. Forward Jama-Bin Edward (Waterloo, Ont.) led the team with 15 points, three blocks and one steal. Despite a dominant performance, the team noticed a bit of a defensive fold in the fourth quarter that they are going to need to work on moving forward.Â
The Lions are also coming off an 84-72 win against the Waterloo Warriors, improving their record to 3-3. Megan MacLeod led the Lions with 16 points and five rebounds, but it was a true team effort as the Lions had five players reach double-digit points.Â
The last time the Rams faced the Lions, they came away with a spectacular win.
Marin Scotten (Ottawa, Ont.) led the team with a near triple-double, logging 24 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists. Lions' MacLeod again, led the team with 16 points but, a solid offensive performance by the Rams would give them the win.Â
Going into Saturday's game the Rams will be well rested as this is their only game of the week, but the Lions face the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday. The Rams will no doubt capitalize on their fresh legs and stick to the plan that worked so well for them in their first meeting, including finding the holes in the Lions' defence and dominating from beyond the arc. The Lions, on the other hand, will need to do a better job in stopping the Rams' versatile offence and getting past their relentless defence.
