NORTH BAY, Ont. - The Ryerson Rams fell 2-1 to the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday afternoon in North Bay.
Ryerson lowers to a 4-4-1 record as they look to regroup for the second match of their road trip tomorrow.
The first half went back and forth. The Lakers managed to get five shots on goal, as opposed to Ryerson's single attempt on net. After holding Nipissing's offence off all half, an Ashley Mlinaric goal gave the Lakers a 1-0 lead around the 45th minute.
Entering the second half, the Rams needed more offence. In the 60th minute,
Katie Joyce (Petty Harbour, Nfld.) came through and netted her second of the season to tie the game at one. Unfortunately, Nipissing came right back in the 63rd minute with Mlinaric's second of the match, making it 2-1.
Ryerson ended up outshooting the Lakers 6-5 as they pressured for the rest of the match. Unfortunately, they failed to find another goal before the final whistle blew.
Tomorrow, Ryerson travels to Sudbury to take on Laurentian. The Rams will look to split their weekend road trip and capitalize on the 2-4-2 Voyageurs. Kickoff is at 12 p.m. ET.
