TORONTO – The Ryerson Rams are back in action at home this weekend for a two-game series against the Lakehead Thunderwolves starting Friday. The Rams lost their last battle against the Thunderwolves last season, ending a six-year win streak against them. This year they'll look to revenge that loss and get back a winning record for the season.
The newly No. 6 ranked Rams were handed their first loss on Saturday against a tough Brock Badgers team, giving them a 1-1 record. The first half was a close game with the Rams leading by just one point. Eventually, one team had to pull away to claim the win and that team was the Badgers. While the Rams seemed to have declined in the second half, the Badgers kept improving both offensively and defensively and were able to get the win with a 10-point lead.
The Rams will have to shake off that loss, regroup and come ready to play on Friday, especially if they want to get this win against the Thunderwolves.Â
Lakehead lost their two-game series against the defending national champs, the McMaster Marauders, to open the season. While the first game was a blowout, the Thunderwolves showed significant improvement in the second game, leading at the half, and only losing by two points. Thunderwolves' guard Tiffany Reynolds led the win with 17 points and 11 rebounds.Â
The Rams are going to have to come out strong offensively, getting points early and consistently. Two players that can do that for them is
Jama Bin-Edward (Waterloo, Ont.) who lead the team in points in their last matchup and
Marin Scotten (Ottawa Ont.) who has been on fire from behind the arc this season. The Rams will also need to get their rebounds and fight for the ball because they face a team that excels at rebounding.Â
Tip off is at 6:00 p.m. ET for both Friday, November 1st, and Saturday, November 2nd at Coca-Cola Court.
