Lancers snap Rams winning streak

Box Score

WINDSOR, Ont. - The Ryerson Rams suffered their first loss in four games to the last-place Windsor Lancers, bested by a final score of 4-1 on the matchup.

Rachel Seeley (Ottawa, Ont.) saw the start for Ryerson tonight, stopping 27 of 33 shots on the matchup.

An eventful first period saw both teams create several high-quality scoring chances.  Ryerson's Kryshanda Green (Brampton, Ont.) would capitalize first, taking a feed from Sarah McGilvray (Stouffville, Ont.) in the corner and making no mistake in putting the puck past goaltender Morgan Farrow (Bedford, N.S.).  Ryerson's 1-0 lead wouldn't last very long as Windsor's Emily Bowman (London, Ont.) tallied a goal with 27.5 seconds left in the period.  The teams would head into the dressing rooms tied at one after 20 minutes of play.

Amy Maitre (Maidstone, Ont.) gave the Lancers a 2-1 lead just two minutes into the second period.  Maitre would find the net several times in the period, but only a single goal would separate these two teams heading into the final 20 minutes of play.

Lancers defenceman and fifth-year senior Sydney Dobbin (Oakridge, Ont.) added one for Windsor in her final OUA game.  Minutes later, Danielle Butler (Vernon, B.C.) gave Windsor a 4-1 lead with four minutes to play in the game.  A Lancers penalty gave the Rams an opportunity for a 6-on-4 power play, but their last-minute efforts were not enough in this matchup.

The Lancers would close out this game, as well as their season, with a 4-1 victory over Ryerson. Windsor's regulation win tonight marks the first time this season that the team has claimed victories in two consecutive games.

The Rams went two-for-two on the penalty kill tonight.  Ryerson hasn't given up a goal on the PK since January 20th against the Toronto Varsity Blues.

Next weekend, the Rams will face the UOIT Ridgebacks and the Guelph Gryphons at home in their final games of the regular season.
