In July 2025, Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Athletics & Recreation introduced a new two-director leadership model. Under this structure, Andrew Pettit will continue to lead TMU's recreation and active wellbeing programs, while Nick Asquini oversees varsity and competitive sports.
Asquini has been a dedicated member of the TMU Athletics & Recreation team for nearly 20 years, serving in progressively senior roles. Most recently, he was Director, Sport Operations, where he played a central role in supporting TMU's high-performance programs. His leadership portfolio has spanned intramurals, aquatics, recreation and competitive clubs, and varsity operations.
Beyond campus, Asquini has made significant contributions to university sport in Ontario and across Canada. He served on the OUA Sport Committee (2014–2018), is currently a member of the OUA Sport Model Task Force, and co-represents Ontario on the U SPORTS Eligibility Committee. He has also been instrumental in hosting national championships, acting as Hosting Lead and Championship Convenor for the 2015 CIS Men's Basketball Final 8 and the 2024 U SPORTS Men's Hockey University Cup.
Asquini holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology (Honours) from York University and an MBA from TMU, combining strategic vision with deep operational expertise.
