TORONTO —
May 23, 2025 —This week, Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) proudly launched the Bold Women Giving Collective, a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to supporting, mentoring, and empowering TMU Bold female athletes and alumni — today and for generations to come.
The launch event brought together student-athletes, alumni, university leadership, and community supporters to celebrate a shared commitment to gender equity and excellence in sport. The keynote speaker for this event was Monica Wright Rogers, General Manager of the Toronto Tempo, who described the future of sport for women in Canada as "limitless."
"Monica's words captured exactly what we believe at TMU," said
Robyn Kennedy, Associate Director of Advancement for Athletics & Recreation, and lead organizer of the Bold Women Giving Collective. "When we invest our time, passion, and resources into women athletes, we unlock a future full of potential — not just for individuals, but for our entire community."
The Bold Women Giving Collective is championed by TMU's student-athletes, alumni, and key university leaders including Chancellor Dr. Donette Chin-Loy Chang, Provost and Vice-President, Academic, Dr. Roberta Iannacito-Provenzano, Vice-Provost, Students Jen McMillen and Executive Director, Athletics & Recreation,
Dr. Louise Cowin. The program will fund scholarships for female athletes, and provide personal development, mentorship, and community for athletes, alumni and the entire Collective.
"Supporting our student-athletes is about more than sport — it's about creating space for women to lead, inspire, and thrive," said
Dr. Louise Cowin. "This initiative exemplifies our commitment to building a more inclusive and empowered future."
