TORONTO — The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's basketball team is excited to announce the second recruit of its 2025-26 class, guard Jessica Fuerte. A Toronto native, Fuerte will remain in the city to bring her competitive spirit and composed energy to the Bold lineup.
'We are very excited to add Jess to our program," said head coach
Carly Clarke. "A Toronto native, we are always excited to bolster our roster with local talent. A high level student-athlete, with a great work ethic, drive, and desire to get better; we know Jess will make a positive impact on our program and campus community."
Fuerte has already built an impressive basketball resume. She played for the Etobicoke Thunder Juel Prep team from 2022-2023 and has been a standout player for the Redmond OSBA team from 2022-2025. During her 2024-2025 season, she served as the team's co-captain and was named Redmond's Most Improved Played in 2024.
Fuerte also showcased her talent on the national stage as part of the Fil-Can Nation Select team in 2024. This basketball team showcases and promotes Filipino-Canadian athletes, participating in events such as the Manila Live tournament. A highlight of her athletic career, Fuerte's performance at the tournament earned her the distinction of Fil-can Manila Live All-Star.
Happy to be staying in the city, Fuerte looks forward to attending TMU for its vibrant metropolitan campus. She was also impressed by the team and coaching staff, who made her feel warmly welcomed during her visit.
Fuerte becomes the Bold's second recruit for the 2025-26 season.
