Bold Fall to Gaels in OUA Playoffs

KINGSTON, Ont. – The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's hockey team headed to Kingston, Ont. on Friday night for a play-in game against the Queen's Gaels. The Bold hoped to push through to fight for the McCaw Cup but fell short in a 3-1 loss.

TMU got the first powerplay early in the first period, and Ahalya Julien-Medeiros capitalized to give the Bold an early lead off assists from Cailey Davis and Emily Baxter.

The Gaels fired back late in the first, tying up the game before the intermission.

Going into the second, the Gaels had the upper hand with the powerplay opportunity but were not able to score.

Minutes later, the Bold tried to keep their defence tight but the Gaels were quick to take the lead three minutes into the period.

Alexia Stratos started in goal for the Bold but was replaced by Lauren Griffin following the second goal.

Going into the second intermission, the Bold were down by one but still very much in the contest. The third period was the final stretch for the Bold, and they fought until the very last moment.

Both teams gave up two crucial penalties in the third that had the potential to change the game in seconds.

The Gaels scored on the powerplay with ten minutes left to make it a 3-1 game. It was difficult for the Bold to catch up on the scoreboard.

The Bold used their final minute on the powerplay and pulled the goaltender to make their final push, but as time winded down, the Gaels took the win.

The loss ends the Bold season after a grueling and hard-fought 2024-25 campaign.
