TMU Athletics & Recreation Raises Over $145,000 on Bold Giving Day

TORONTO – Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Athletics and Recreation celebrated an extraordinary achievement with its inaugural Bold Giving Day, held Tuesday, December 3, raising over $145,000 in support of its student-athletes and teams.

The 24-hour online fundraising event ignited the spirit of TMU's student-athletes, coaches and broader community to raise funds to support excellence on and off the playing field. More than 580 donations went directly to the participating 24 teams, with each team having access to a matching fund to increase the impact of contributions.

"Thanks to the generosity of our Bold Family we've raised over $145,000 from 580 donors–a historic first for our department," said Louise Cowin, the Executive Director, Athletics and Recreation. "In addition to the funds raised, the messages of support left on our team pages make us realize, once again, how lucky we are to have such an incredible community. It serves as a reminder that every time a student athlete steps on the field, there is an entire team supporting their collective successes."

The funds raised will enhance the student-athlete experience, providing resources for training, equipment, travel and other needs. In addition, the strong support through donations lays the foundation for a promising future, centered around philanthropy for the TMU Bold community.

"Our donors have made a significant difference to our current student-athletes through their generosity, and have contributed to building a new chapter of philanthropy that will support student-athletes for years to come" said Robyn Kennedy, Associate Director of Advancement, Athletics & Recreation.
