TORONTO – The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's volleyball team lost in a competitive four-set match to the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday afternoon.
Jasmine Safar led the Bold with a match-high four service aces while
Scarlett Gingera produced a team-high 15 kills and 17.5 points.
The Bold struggled in the first set and fell 25-18. However, they responded with a much better display in the following three sets.
In the second, they cruised to a comfortable 25-18 victory powered by an impressive kill percentage of .219.
The third set was a back-and-forth affair which went the way of the Varsity Blues, 25-23.
In the fourth set, the two teams refused to give in and following several extended rallies, the Varsity Blues took the set, 33-31.
In addition to strong performances by Safar and Gingera, several other Bold players stood out, including
Hannah Bellai,
Ayla Cross and
Kylie Ferguson, who all finished with 10-plus points.
The contest was the final match for the Bold in the calendar year. They will return to the court on January 10, 2025 against the Western Mustangs in London, Ont. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. and can be viewed on OUA.tv.
