Senior day draw against Trent concludes Bold season

TORONTO - It was a physical, hard fought 0-0 draw against the Trent Excalibur for Lizzie Farsang, Ivymae Perez, Skylar Sheehan-Alleyene and the rest of TMU's graduating players in their final game wearing the royal blue and gold. The Bold finish their season with a 4-7-2 record, falling just short of the OUA playoffs.

"Today felt great, it was just nice to play with the girls one last time," said Perez about senior day.

It was a slow start for both sides on a chilly day from Downsview. The first half was a physical contest which saw the ball and much of the play in the midfield. As both teams warmed up, so did the offence. TMU generated several set pieces in the Trent half throughout the first 45 minutes of action but could not beat the Trent keeper. Jazz Dev was particularly dangerous from the set pieces, effectively getting the ball in high danger spaces. Alexia Rhooms also played a big role in generating offence for TMU, winning several 50/50 balls for the Bold in their backfield.

The Bold's best chance came in the 40th minute, with the senior Sheehan-Alleyene just unable to find Taliyah Walker onside inside the Trent box. Despite the teams entering half even in shots and corners, TMU held a definitive edge in high-quality opportunities and possession.

The second half mirrored the first, with both teams unable to break down the other's defence in a physical affair. TMU's chances at securing a win on senior day were impacted by a red card in the 59th minute that put the Bold down to ten players for the remainder of the contest.

Despite going down a player the Bold responded well, generating the better opportunities and hemming Trent into their half for the majority of the second frame. Aalayah Lully, who came in as a second half sub, was effective in lighting a spark for the Bold offence, creating multiple dangerous runs in the Trent defensive end.

"It's really obviously hard to push 45 minutes down a man and keep the score 0-0, so I think it's a performance to be proud of," said head coach Natalie Bukovec.

Alannah Musolino ended the game with an incredible save in added time to keep the game scoreless, and secure a draw on Senior Day for the Bold.

Despite the season ending without a playoff berth, Bukovec and the Bold coaching staff are confident in the future of the program.

"[We had] a lot of young players in new roles, so I think the future for this program is really bright."
