Bold tie single game record with seven goals in win over Western

LONDON, Ont. - The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's hockey team exploded for seven goals to defeat the Western Mustangs 7-3 on the road on Saturday.

The seven goals ties the program's highest single game total, with the last occurrence coming back in October of 2019.

Defender Ahalya Julien-Medeiros got the scoring started just 53 seconds into the contest, before Payton Kerr scored her first of the afternoon at the 2:08 mark.

The Bold then capitalized on two power play chances as Olivia Giardetti banged home a loose puck before Emily Baxter scored to make it 4-0 at the first intermission.

Western got on the board in the second period but Emma Macgregor responded with her first OUA goal to restore TMU's four goal lead heading into the final stanza.

The teams traded a pair of goals in the third with Abby DeCorby registering another power play tally while Kerr netted her second of the game to round out the Bold offence.

Lauren Griffin made 30 saves in the victory.

TMU will look to keep the good vibes rolling into Friday night when they welcome the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks to the Mattamy Athletic Centre in a crucial East division matchup. Puck drop is set for 6:00 p.m.
