Brooks gets call to the NHL, joins Arizona coaching staff

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA - The Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League (NHL) announced on Thursday that Nathaniel Brooks will join the coaching staff as the team's new Skill Development Coach.

Brooks spent the 2021-22 season as the associate coach of the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) men's hockey team and has served as an assistant coach since 2014.

The Coyotes organization has had their eye on Brooks for a while now, as last fall he participated in the first year of the Coyotes' coaching internship program. The program provides young diverse hockey coaches with opportunities to learn and develop by working directly with the coaching staff during Development Camp.

"I'm beyond excited to be joining the Coyotes organization," said Brooks in a press release. "I would like to thank Xavier Gutierrez, Bill Armstrong and André Tourigny for believing in me. Last year, I left Arizona feeling great and I'm very grateful and fortunate for this incredible opportunity. I plan on making the most of it."

TMU Athletics would like to congratulate Brooks on the opportunity and wish him well in the next stages of his career.
