TORONTO - The department of Athletics and Recreation, in partnership with the President's Office, celebrated the academic accomplishments of a record 115 student-athletes on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the annual Devon Lord Brooks Platinum event. This year's edition was celebrated via a live premiere on YouTube, in lieu of a physical event.
Among the 115 student-athletes recognized, 87 were U SPORTS Academic All-Canadians while 28 were OUA Academic Achievement Award winners. The 115 winners surpassed the previous record of 88 student-athletes honoured last year. This year's group of winners is particularly impressive, having persevered through the COVID-19 pandemic which forced students into new ways of learning. These awards are a true testament to the dedication and desire to excel academically.
Also celebrated at the event were the Devon Lord Brooks Scholarship award winners. The distinguished award goes to a full-time student-athlete in an undergraduate or graduate studies program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.67 and who contributes back to the community.
