Rams add goaltender Bailey Brkin to 2020-21 roster

TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams men's hockey team is pleased to announce the signing of goaltender and Sherwood Park, Alta. native, Bailey Brkin.

Brkin joins the Rams from the Soo Greyhounds in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) where he played 31 games for the better part of the 2019-2020 season.

Prior to his time with the OHL's Greyhounds, Brkin spent the majority of the 2017-18, 2018-19 seasons and the beginning of the 2019-20 season in the Western Hockey League (WHL) playing for various clubs including the Spokane Chiefs and the Moose Jaw Warriors.

In the last two seasons in junior hockey, Brkin played as a starter for three different teams and tallied an impressive 50-25-7 record, including a spectacular campaign with the Greyhounds to finish his junior career.

The 6-3 goalie describes himself as a "big game player", and is "competitive, 100% all in or nothing". He also mentioned his maturity and composure in the crease, adding that he is "even-keeled, not too high and not too low", something that is seen as an essential personality trait in the goaltending position.

An honours student throughout his time at Archbishop Jordan Catholic High School, Brkin will be studying Ryerson's criminology program in the fall.

On why he chose to commit to Ryerson, Brkin expressed that "it was the best school for me academically and to move on in hockey" for him.
