Final playoff push ahead for Rams

TORONTO - All that remains of the Rams' regular season are two critical road games happening this week. On Friday, Ryerson visits the struggling Windsor Lancers before facing their direct competitor Western Mustangs on Saturday to close out the season.

Teams ranked sixth to ninth in the OUA, including the number seven Rams, are all within two points of one another.

If the Rams could repeat their results from last weekend, they should have no trouble holding on to their second-final playoff spot. Laurentian got the best of the Rams last Friday, winning 3-2 in overtime. However, the Rams battled back for their overtime point thanks to a clutch tying goal via Lauren Nicholson (Dresden, Ont.) with under five minutes to go. Star of the Week Mariah Hinds (Toronto) is also riding a three-game point streak heading into this weekend's games.

Ryerson was in for an even bigger challenge last Saturday, taking on the already-clinched, nationally ranked, Nipissing Lakers. Perhaps inspired by their Senior Night, the Rams earned themselves a 3-0 win while Rachel Seeley (Ottawa, Ont.) grabbed the shutout.

On Valentine's Day this Friday, the Rams will look to get the better of the 1-16-3 Windsor Lancers. While Windsor has only one notch under the regulation win column, their last three games have been decided by two goals or less. Their lone win came against the same Voyageurs squad which defeated Ryerson last week. Meanwhile, Windsor was on the receiving end of the Rams' record-breaking 7-1 victory back in October 2019.

On Saturday, the Rams will look for revenge on the Western Mustangs after losing 2-0 as part of a four game skid back in mid-January. Sitting in the eighth and final playoff spot, Western is just a single point behind the Rams with the same amount of games played. Meanwhile, the Guelph Gryphons have a game in hand over Western while holding the same amount of points.

Puck drop in Windsor is set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday and 7:00 p.m. sharp against Western on Saturday. These crucial games can be streamed live at OUA.tv before playoff matchups are finalized after Saturday night.
