TORONTO – The Ryerson Rams are heading north this weekend for a double header. They face the Laurentian Voyageurs first on Friday, November 15th and then the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday, November 16th.
The Rams are coming off a strong weekend. On Friday they had a shutout 6-0 win against the Queen's Gaels, where at one point, the Rams had more goals than the Gaels had shots. On Saturday they beat the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks 4-2 where fifth year forward and captain
Kryshanda Green (Brampton, Ont.) became the Rams' all-time assists leader.Â
The Voyageurs are coming off of a disappointing 3-0 loss against the Guelph Gryphons. The Voyageurs would only be able to get 19 shot throughout the whole 60 minutes, compared to the Gryphons 36.Â
The same is true for the Lakers who coincidentally also lost 3-0 against the Guelph Gryphons this past week. In contrast, the Lakers actually got off more shots than the Gryphons but couldn't beat goalie Aurore Beaulieu. Nipissing's loss to Guelph was their first of the season after starting the campaign 6-0.
The Rams defeated both the Voyageurs and Lakers last season. In their last game against Laurentian, the Rams beat the Voyageurs 5-2, with a strong showing by their special teams and two goals by Green. The Rams then went on to beat the Lakers 3-1, again thanks in part to their resilient penalty kill and some goals by
Lauren Nicholson (Dresden, Ont.) and
Erika Crouse (Kirkland Lake, Ont.).Â
Both the Voyageurs and the Lakers will want to come away with a win but it's going to be a challenge to stop the Rams with the way they have been playing lately.Â
