LONDON, Ont. - All good things must come to an end and the Western Mustangs upset the No. 2 Rams with a 3-1 decision on Saturday night to snap Ryerson's winning streak dating back over a year.

Ryerson was uncharacteristically out-hit and out-blocked in the contest, as Western tallied 15 total blocks and hit for a 0.235 hitting percentage compared to seven Ryerson blocks and a 0.185 Rams hitting percentage.

Western came out of the gate firing on all cylinders as they made quick work of the first set, winning 25-14 and setting the tone for the evening. 

The Rams responded in the second set, mounting a late comeback to claim the set 26-24 to tie the match at 1-1. 

Both teams traded runs and momentum throughout the final two sets but it was Western who always managed to make the final push and win the important moments. The Mustangs survived a third set comeback attempt by the Rams to win 25-23 and posted an identical scoreline in the fourth to claim the 3-1 win.

Ryerson was led by 17 kills by Theanna Vernon while Cailin Wark added 12 kills. Lauren Veltman posted 11 kills and a game-high 19 digs. 

On the other side of the net, Lauren's sister Kelsey had a strong performance with 16 kills while Kate Van Camp posted a game-high 18 kills in the win.

The Rams return to action next Friday when they visit the York Lions.
