Bold add Latvian big man Andrejs Silconoks

The TMU men's basketball team continues to add internationally to their roster, signing Andrejs Silconoks out of Tallahassee State College. Silconoks hails from Riga, Latvia and joins the Bold after one season in JUCO with the TSC Eagles.

Silconoks is a 6-11 stretch forward that can "dribble, pass and shoot". He prides himself on his basketball IQ and commitment to the defensive side of the floor. It is this combination of skills that earned Silconoks a try out with the U-20 Latvian national team.

The Bold, which ranked seventh in the OUA in rebounding last season, will benefit from the transfer's high rebound rate last season with Tallahassee State College, as well as his 40% shooting percentage from behind the arc.

His favourite player is fellow Latvian sharpshooting forward Kristap Porzingis, who shares a similar play style to Silconoks. In his spare time, Andrejs enjoys video games and watching other sports. When he steps on campus in the fall, Silconoks will join the Business Management program and chose TMU because it was the ideal fit, in combination with the city's culture.
